Special Issues of the Journals Vacuum and Surface and Coatings Technology (SCT)

Manuscript Deadline: July 31, 2027

One of the goals of this conference is to publish high-quality papers based on conference presentations in Special Issues of the journals Vacuum (VAC) and Surface and Coatings Technology (SCT), both Q1 journals in all categories.

We therefore strongly encourage you to submit high-quality manuscripts based on your presentations at ICMCTF 2027 before the July 31, 2027, submission deadline. Manuscripts can only be submitted through the link at the bottom of this page.

Publishing your manuscripts in the Special Issues of ICMCTF has many advantages compared to publishing articles in regular issues:

One-year open access: In collaboration with Elsevier Science Publishers, the ICMCTF Special Issues will be available with one-year open access on the SCT and Vacuum websites. Anyone worldwide will be able to download and read the Special Issues’ papers from the journal websites free of charge. This will increase the visibility and number of citations for all papers appearing in the 2027 ICMCTF Special Issues. Later in the year, all attendees will be notified via email when the Special Issues are completed, and free retrieval of articles will be accessible.

Online publication as soon as it is accepted: Immediately following ICMCTF 2027, as soon as a manuscript is accepted, it will be published online within two weeks after acceptance in either SCT or Vacuum.

Editor’s Pick: The Conference organizers have also made an agreement with Elsevier Science Publishers to feature Editor’s Picks of selected articles from the ICMCTF 2027 Special Issues. The selected articles will be highlighted later in the year once all accepted submitted manuscripts have been published online.

Manuscript Submission

Authors may choose which journal to submit their article to (Vacuum or SCT). If the paper does not fit the scope of the chosen journal, the editor will transfer the paper to the other journal.

Manuscripts are accepted with the understanding that the authors have obtained the necessary authority for publication and will be peer-reviewed according to the usual high standards of these archival international journals. Upon acceptance of an article by the Editors, the author(s) will be asked to transfer the copyright to Elsevier Science Publishers.

Please note: submissions can only be made through the special Elsevier website submission for our conference, found at the bottom of this page. The general instructions for writing the manuscript are found in this document.

Your cover letter must include: (1) the abstract number assigned by the conference organization, (2) the title of the abstract, (3) the on-site presentation identification number as listed in the program book, and (4) the name of the presenter at the conference.

Very Important: Note that submitted manuscripts will be accepted for publication after a successful peer review only if they were delivered as oral or poster presentations by the authors listed in the program.
