“Beyond the Coating: 50+ Years of Enabling Performance Through Thin Film Expertise”
Tuesday, April 27, 2027, 11:00 a.m.
Abstract
For more than five decades, IHI Ionbond has transformed advanced thin film technologies into industrial solutions that improve performance, extent component lifetime, and enable sustainable manufacturing across diverse markets. While physical vapor deposition (PVD), plasma-assisted chemical vapor deposition (PACVD), and chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technologies remain the DNA of IHI Ionbond, successful industrial coating is about far more than depositing a functional layer.
As a global coating service provider, IHI Ionbond has built its reputation by combining technology leadership in surface engineering and material science with application engineering, process excellence, and a worldwide footprint with its 30 coating centers in 14 countries. The product portfolio covers tooling, industrial components, mobility, aerospace, decorative, medical, and other high-performance applications, supported by surface engineering solutions tailored to demanding operating conditions and varying customer requirements in the markets.
This keynote explores what it truly takes to deliver consistent added value in the industrial coating business. From selecting the optimum substrate/coating combinations and engineering robust coating architectures to ensuring process repeatability, quality assurance, customer support, and global technology and knowledge transfer, every step contributes to the final performance of a coated tool or component.
Success depends on understanding the complete application including its failure mechanisms and the tribological and corrosion mechanisms behind – not only the coating itself. Attendees will gain insight into IHI Ionbond’s technology and product portfolio, the evolution of thin film coatings from traditional solutions with today’s market relevance to critical industrial enablers for future growth markets, such as innovative coating solutions for fuel cells and electrolyzers in the hydrogen economy and for autonomous driving systems to ensure highest precision as well as safer and sustainable alternatives to PFAS chemicals.
